My favorite result is sharpness. I have never obtained such sharpness from anything. A close second is durability. I think I recall the late Chris Hall resharpening frequently to maintain the surface off the blade that he wanted. Cost, speed of edge acquisition, and transformation of mediocre chisels are not important to me but, even here, this method seems to excel. Toss the Shapton super-fine, remove the ritual, call off the hunt for the last blade forged by the immortal bladesmith, and get indecently great edges with little effort. I have loved the search for better edges and will miss it.
