Subject:
putting into perspective

Bill Tindall, E.Tn.
If I had built the drawers for the desk I am building out of maple entirely I would have pounded the chisel through maple 10 times more distance than this test. A reasonable estimate is that I drove a chisel through 1.5 feet of ash, 50% more than this test, with no visible at 10X damage to a Unicorn edge on a Narex. These estimates from one trial is reason to pursue exploring what appears to be an effective means of vastly improving edge life when cutting cross grain with a chisel.
