the surface left behind by this edge is one that looks like it was waxed, but it doesn't look burnished, just very clean.
I haven't yet had a decent chisel or knife that wasn't amenable to this, but I do have an underhardened piece of junk O1 marking knife that i made a while ago that really likes to draw a wire edge off of the buffer.
Harder chisels buff more slowly - it's kind of a do it until you get the result you're looking for sort of thing, and if that's getting to be a pain, it can be explored - you just sort of get the feel for it and as long as the second stone can hone it off, no big deal if it takes a few whacks.
