In "London Labor and the London Poor" Henry Mayhew interviews cabinetmakers and one important number was wear and tear on tools. - mostly saws but everything. 750 board feet of wood is nothing for someone who does this for a living in 1800 and even you decided to true up the sole once. Multiply that wear ten fold over 5 or 10 years.
