Very useful post! Particularly for the pilot hole idea, but also for the Wood Owl augers, which I see are carried by LV. Will try it first with the Russell Jennings already owned.

The Veritas clamps are expensive, but it’s some of the best money I‘ve spent. No knock on traditional ones.
