English Sycamore is not American Sycamore () Warren in Lancaster, PA
The tree the English call sycamore is Acer pseudoplatanus. When this tree is planted in the United States we call it sycamore maple. It is in the maple genus, not the plane tree genus. Some English know to be careful when talking to an American audience and some do not.
The hardness of sycamore maple is slightly more than most of our soft maples (Acer rubra and others).
