It's softer than Poplar, harder than Butternut.
It saws straight and true, even resawing.
Planing a QS panel was best across the width, at an angle approaching 90°.
I still had lotsa tearout, even at a very fine shaving.
It produces a powdery sanding dust which fills in tear out, that is difficult to detect until shellac is applied.
I've had my fun, if you want some to make a Mandolin top from.
If should make good looking coasters, too.
