My go to block plane dulled quickly while fitting plywood panels.

The half pint cofgin smoother with an XHP blade whistled through the work.
Once finished, I took it for sharpening only to find it still sharp enough to slice paper.

The fact that I can hone on two stones close to my finest Kanna closed the deal.

The wear characteristics of this "Adanantium" present a challenge in sharpening - I remove the wire edge before final honing. I think that's the conceptual error - presenting a wire edge to subsequent stones just leaves an ever finer burr.
