Hi Jack, I routinely use plumbing fitting of various sizes as ferrules. Mounted on a wood lathe and using good sharp tools, I turn them down to make the outside smooth. The insides are where the first step takes place; choose the one that fits the ferrule you need. Hope this idea helps. P.
