Never even thought of trying such a thing, but I like the concept. I don't use a lot of shellac, but I could see using this one on cherry or walnut when one has a lot of color variation to even out.

I recently tried out some button lac for refinishing an old beech gunstock I had fixed. Orange button was about the right color, so I figured I'd give it a try. Seems like it dissolved a lot better than dewaxed, and I found it applied differently - seemed a bit more forgiving but it also wouldn't really gloss up the way I've done with dewaxed.
