Subject:
times change - urushi

david weaver
Urushi is now available on ebay. I'd make comments about it being horribly expensive (it's $35 for 100g), but it's about the same price as cashew, mostly due to international shipping, I'm sure.

...but the only feedback on it is a one star review from someone who apparently got sick from using and and developed a rash to go with it.

(a little further reading suggests that the oil in urushi lacquer is a much more highly concentrated version of the trace amount of the same substance in poison ivy. That's interesting for one reason - i don't have any reaction to poison ivy and can pull it or string trim it, or whatever else, without any reaction. Not willing to see if that's true for a much more concentrated form, though).
