moulding plane reconditioning *PIC*john lucas
I have been buying and reconditioning old molding planes. I do mostly turning related furniture repair but in the last 10 years have been doing more and more flatwood furniture repair which is why I'm picking up these planes. On the curved blades it pretty obvious the blade should match the body profile but on this one the blade is wider than the body by .030". Should I grind it down. It's an odd size. cuts a groove that is .700" wide right now. I'm mostly using it to clean glue off of tenons right now but could easily see a need to use it to clean up a groove. I'm tempted to thickness the whole plane to .625 and make the blade match. What are your thoughts.
