That was definitely a stone edge (a white synthetic oilstone that I got from japan that leaves a very similar edge sharpness to a settled in black or trans stone), but with the bias that protects the edge a little bit (it's a really lazy way to sharpen things, I guess, but works really well, and as I learned from you, it probably covers up some sins of overhardness sometimes because it yields sharpness and good edge support).

Nothing special about the stone, though - it's just a slow cutting white alumina stone. A fast stone would be a bad choice for that. I love it, it was cheap, and I've not seen one again anywhere else.
