Your idea of giving your grandchild a block set to play with is excellent.....even some small scraps that a child can entertain themselves with to glue and imagine a space ship or car is also good use of scrap.

Evidently, your style of woodworking has not found a continuing use for the scrap you generate.....so, I would limit what I keep to the longer, larger stuff.....the exotic wood stuff.....the wood with attractive grain.....and dispose of the rest.

Or, you could get into making ww jigs like me.....and then you'll have a constant need for the stuff.
