It is 14" wide by 37" long and just over an inch thick. It is twisted such that with three corners on the bench, the 4th corner is about a half inch off the bench. The finished piece is supposed to be 7/8 thick, but it would probably be ok down to about 3/4.

Jason, if you can determine roughly where the twist begins, I would rip away that section a little way in from that point. I would not rip at the halfway point.

This will afford you the maximum thickness for each section. The twisted section can be jointed to lie flat against the wide section. There should be minimal change in grain on the face side - essentially just a saw kerf and jointing removed (the other side may have lost a 1/4" - 1/2").
