No, it'll persist if you sharpen it. Just ignore it for now if you don't want to joint the edge off and re-cut the bevel.

If you're using a reasonably fine stone for your final polishing, you should be able to strop any wire edge off (normally, if you have a wire edge, you'd rely on polishing the back to hone it off or push it back over to the bevel side).
