Re: Putting a handle on a knife?

Start with two "scales", pieces of wood for each side of the handle. Some burl or crotch wood is nice for this task. Mortise out 1/2 the blade thickness in each. Put knife in one half and drill through the rivet holes in the knife. Assemble and drill through the scale with the holes through knife and through the other scale. Gob in epoxy, assemble, drive rivets through the holes and tape to hold together until it sets. Shape and polish. Soak in linseed oil until saturated.
