V11 vs. O1 end grain () Warren in Lancaster, PA
I tried duplicating David's results. I am at 701 feet. I could keep going if someone thinks it is important to know if it can top 800 feet or not. This is not the way we usually plane.
I used a Stanley V logo iron (c. 1915) sharpened at 30 degrees, flat bevel. Might predate O1 steel. Stanley Handyman smoothing plane (1973). Prunus serotina.
