I feel your pain. However, would suggest one more extension to the test you’re running now.

You’ve pretty much convinced us that 1u is way better than 5u. Question: Is there advantage in going finer than 1u? If you ran the same test, using your O1 at 35 degrees, but with final hone being 1/4u or equal (such as the diamond on hardwood strop), you could locate the point where further edge refinement yields diminishing or no returns.
