Great to see Steve’s work getting some visibility. Your testing and Steve’s are complementary, as you point out. Steve actually has 2 websites:

There are some gems at both sites. One of my real favorites at the ‘Comparison Tests of Plane Blades’, under subhead ‘Steel and Sharpness’, is titled ‘Wear Profiles’, where he shows progressive dulling based on actual experiments. He shows initial wear on the upper surface, then the critical wear at the bevel taking over and leading to clearance loss which ends the planing cycle:

This is a stunning experiment in my view, and have not seen its like elsewhere.
