Yes. There's a step up in polish by finishing on hardwood, but I think it's just aesthetic. At least mostly. The cast is pure joy to use.

The bigger diamond, I used brass. I just don't want to contaminate the cast with it. The sharpness and ease of cut even from 1 to 3 microns on brass is stark. 5 is almost intolerable. I was surprised.
