Test 5 () david weaver
3v - 1680 feet
v11 - 2295 feet
m4 - 2373 feet
v11 again seemingly slicker through the cut. m4 lasted, but more cut friction and harsher looking in the pictures.
Board with a few degrees of upward grain, beech. less dry and lighter heart than the last board. more favorable planing, for sure.
m4 and 3V both quit abruptly.
can't help but wonder if the grip of the m4 is something contributing to faster than expected wear. do carbides or groups of particles get pulled from the steel while planing, costing some of the wear potential?
