If you want to hardness test any of these blades after I'm done with the planing, I'd be glad to mail them to you. I have a guess on the hardness of these two. I think they're one or two C scale points apart. I'd guess 61 for my blade, maybe 62 and just above 62 for the hock - like 63.

It would be interesting to see how good my guesses are, but as you mentioned with the hand held tester types, I'm not going to go there. I think I can gauge hardness with a stone within a range at least as accurate as those hand testers.
