I have the Sigma 1000 - this was sent to me by Stu some years ago to test out. I found that it did not cut as quickly as the Shapton 1000.

If you are getting black marks, which is iron loading up, add a smidgeon of liquid soap to the water you spray (enough to keep the stone from loading up). It may change your view of the stone.
