As this thread spreads out it harder for my old brain to follow the flow.
(That's not a criticism; there's a lot of information and experimentation here.)

Are you saying you spent extra time sharpening the micro-bevel using the 1m diamonds? I could imagine a blade starting with few/no defects is much slower to acquire fractures at the edge.

Did you just spend 'extra time' or were you examining it with the scope?
