Very inspiring and interesting. A couple questions (including dumb ones):

How thick are the blades after you forge them?
When you say deflection, is this the same thing as flex?
What kind of files do you use? Just curious...
If you're happy with the results, why would you look for vintage triangular files to make chisels instead of using the same brand as the smash knives? Is there something about the knives that would not translate into good chisels?

For the bolsters, a tapered tang and fitted hole seems good, but isn't most of the strength going to come from the shoulders resting on the bolster? Seems to me that this would be the place to invest time to get a good fit.
