W-1

David,

Will send anything you’re interested in, when the time is ripe. Just let me know.

I also have an LN iron that came stock in an LN4 back in the early 90’s (the ones with the heavy build of lacquer on the handles). People say it’s W-1. Which is likely so, because those irons most always came with hollow backs, and took plenty of elbow grease to get a 1” flat place above the edge. Thickness about 0.115”. I really like this iron, however it might test. Again though, I don’t imagine water-hardening steel is gonna make a comeback in plane irons. Funny, back in Badger Pond days, people would call LN and ask if they had any of the old irons left—and they did. Then.
