well, if there's a need....makes more sense than buying a bunch of drug store gimmicks.

I'd bet a nicholson super shear would be good for that, too. They're sharp when they're new, but no cost if a plane works without buying anything else.

(I've sanded palm callouses that occur due to golf before, and pared bits off - never thought of using a plane, though).
