Gouges, but much different type of rifle with the metal parts laid into the stock and no magazine to deal with.
(nor a design that was intended to be made in a factory with lower skilled labor and more machines).
(somewhere around 35 minutes the stock making starts - there is a small hole drilled from a ramrod with a flexible bit and a brace).
