I have a piece for the forend from the same board. It doesn't have the nice stump figure as I recall, but it is still a pretty piece of wood.

Here is the basic shape to make:

That round longitudinal cut at the bottom is the tricky bit. I typically do these with a milling machine and a ball cutter, but this one is a weird size, between 5/8 and 3/4, for which there is no readily available bit. Probably I will either use an oversize one or delete the overhanging part and just use a ball nose cutter and then scrape to fit by hand.

The rest of the forend is easy. Beyond that round channel, the hardest part of making one is getting the length right.
