I cut something that would be referred to as fretwork about once a year. The $17 saw will be fine.
I'll say that I did overextend myself on a second coping saw (I use them to cut brass sides for planes from time to time - it's nice to have a second one just for that to keep the blades in the saw separate). I paid $15 to get one made by millers falls. It's not really better than a $10 hardware store saw, but I like the way it looks.
Cuts dovetail waste really fast!!
