$45 was the cost of a leaf shredding electric version.

I have a sunken driveway and the real purpose was to run up and down the sides and clean up leaves every week or two in the fall and spring (last fall's leaves seem to blow into about april or may here).

I was sure at the outset (undecided on gas or electric) that the "plastic" impeller would be shredded by the stones that roll down the driveway, but it's nylon and other than making a lot of noise, nothing breaks it.

The cheapness side of things here is that I never had the interest to install a "real" dust vacuum system - seems like sunk costs and a huge waste of current.
