Re: Cutting oil with oil stones?

I have used cutting oil off and on for about 25 years. It is about the same viscosity as honing oil and mineral oil, but it is somewhat more refined (and more expensive) than mineral oil and less refined (and cheaper) than honing oil.

A less refined oil will get gummy if left on the stone for long periods, so honing oil is best in that regard.
