Having never before used redwood, I started a small project with it last weekend. It planes beautifully, is easy to chisel without crushing and looks nice enough. But I've come think of it as a bundle (a loose bundle) of splinters. I can't touch the stuff without feeling as if I've picked up a porcupine. Apparently some of the splinters are too small for me to see, but I sure feel them.

I have to go out there now and complete this, and I'm going to try using gloves.

Thereafter, I'll use some other wood!
