I have a genuine Mathieson plane that was re-stamped with the forged stamp. The original stamp is very faint and the more recent stamp is sharp-edged and matches images of the forgeries.

I believe the forged stamp was used on old infill planes to make them bring higher prices. What matters is the quality of the plane itself, at least if it's a user.
