Unfortunately, I think if you want to speed up the process of drying, you have to add pressure and temperature at the same time.

I see Steve answered. He and I probably have a pretty grim view of the world of drying lumber because beech will check on you with unsealed ends even if it's already fully dry and several years old. I've had long dry lumber check on the sides a few times, too - thankfully not deep enough to cause discarding expensive plane billets.

Horizon lumber (my interpretation) has tried various times to speed up their drying process with beech, and often paid the price (honey combing, etc). Even so, I think they still started with a substantial air dry period.
