Yes, using a jig like this to make a large multiple of dados is a problem in that you can become mesmerized and lose focus with the result that you make an error. I have a suggestion of what you can do on the repair:.....use a metal lettering set to write out who, what, when, where made the piece. It almost makes it look like you intensionally made that strip so that info could be recored inside the piece......DAMHIKT.
