You can't really generalize from one steel to another for stuff like this.

CTS-XHP/PM-V11 is a martensitic PM stainless like SGPS, and it's also solidly in the austenite + K2 portion of the phase diageam, but its Vanadium level is quite a bit lower (0.45% vs. 2%). Its K2 carbides therefore consist mostly of softer Chromium carbide, and its secondary structure is likely finer as well. More to the point, CTS-XHP is known to sharpen very nicely (if slowly, for the reason you point out) on SiO2.
