Excellent response David. It appears ownership has fallen out of favour. Experiences are where money is spent. Society today is far more mobile than ever. You never know where you'll be working next,, unlike in past years. So having less to move around makes sense. Then there is the whole "minimalist" movement which is gaining traction,,, as I also follow them. I am personally trending towards minimalism myself and only purchase what is absolutely necessary , or to replace a broken item. So investing in expensive, antique heirloom pieces is on the wane. Price points are also much less than they used to be since the same cohort doesn't intend to keep the furniture for long, why spend a fortune on furniture? It is also no longer an investment.
