CJ in MPLS
Sometimes you head into the shop to get something done and a few hours later you find yourself in an entirely different place. Yesterday was one such day, and it was fun.
I headed out to clear off the workbench and dig out the pin nailer to secure some trim in the basement stairwell. Two hours later my wife came out to ask when she could start painting the trim. I was having a blast using a new to me scorp on a 'plank' I had riven from a walnut log. I quickly swept up and got the trim attached. Then I dug out the drawknife and spoke shave to clean up the edges of the board, now a rather organically shaped, but smooth, bench seat.
What was really an eye opener is after an hour of reducing an overlarge billet of wood into a roughly leg shaped thing, I was prepared to swear up and down that anyone that makes his/her living using a drawknife should probably try out for the Olympic rowing team.
I may have a couple of questions on attaching legs to this plank later this week.
