Subject:
waxing a dovetail saw

Jack Guzman from Maine
I am building a bunch of drawers. The client wants hand cut dovetails . Who am I to argue? I'm using 5/8" poplar for the drawer sides and cutting both sides at once, clamped together. The sawing was getting a little tedious so I made a swipe along the sides of the saw with household wax. Instant relief! Took all the work out of it. All I need to do is concentrate on steering.
What I want to know is if anyone else uses wax on a dovetail saw. Should I worry about transferred wax affecting the glue? It doesn't take much wax to get the saw sliding with ease.---Jack
