Depending on how one defines 'millennial', they likely don't have a hell of a lot of money for high end antiques. What is more, they have spent a fairly large chunk of their lives going through some tough economic times. It doesn't seem strange to me that IKEA is more up their alley.
That being said, having the bottom drop out of the antique market is the kind of trend that gets young people buying antiques. By extension, once the kids are old enough to be more biddable than the family dog and checks aren't bouncing all the time, one can start thinking of how to replace the IKEA stuff with something that won't break in six months.
