I build windsor chairs. In my case hand tool use is obvious at first glance. However for case furniture,if done well it won't necessarily show. You have to look under the drawer,or inside the case for hand tool evidence. Dovetails are usually a dead giveaway. Machine cut dovetails are fairly obvious. Plane marks on undersides of tops or inside walls of dressers and such pieces. I don't think you'd want it to be obvious.---Jack
