Subject:
Files for sharpening saws

Joe shelton
First, I checked briefly to see that this doesn't duplicate the other discussion of files. If I missed saw sharpening there, I'm sorry.

Are the Nicholson files I can buy locally good for sharpening saw? I think I've read criticisms of them, but I don't recall specifics.

If Nicholsons aren't sufficient, what is the right answer?

So far, I've had mildly successful results with two old saws, and I know that the real limit at the moment is the file holder, not the file.
