I received a 2 inch thick piece in 1990. It is not old growth. I'm using some (resawed) to make a small reliquary box for ashes. I plan to use filler on the pores, being sure the filler is darker than the wood. I've had success with tinted shellac as finish for other dark woods but want to avoid the fuss and the rubbing out. Perhaps a reddish stain followed with Tru-Oil. I have the powders for the stain, but again want to skip the alchemy. Any out-of-the can suggestions? Thank you.
