Knight's foundry *PIC*

Ken Martin
Yesterday the Knight's foundry in Sutter Creek, California had an open house. Knight's foundry was formed in 1873 and shut down in 1996. It is a foundry, machine shop, and pattern shop where they built machines for the mining and lumbering industries. The machine shop is powered by a Knight designed water wheel driving an overhead line shaft with belts to the machines. The city of Sutter Creek now owns the buildings and land and is raising money to buy the machinery in the foundry.
