Walnut Every Chester County piece of furniture I have seen is walnut, though in Griffith's PhD thesis on this style it was mentioned that occasionally cherry was used.
A note on wood selection. With the busy lines and berries I thought it best to have the grain as plain as it gets. To that end I found a flat sawed piece of wood where the grain was running almost parallel to the face of the piece.
