I think your design choices are excellent and I can subscribe to the notion that it isn't essential to fix little blems that are not visible at normal viewing distance. That said, I think I'd putty the compass hole in the middle of that right hand panel as it is quite visible and detracts from the clean diamond motif that you've so successfully accomplished.
