Charles Stanford
Sure, and one assumes that when a bridge is built that it won't flap in the breeze and collapse, either:

http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=tacoma+narrows+bridge&FORM=VIRE2#view=detail&mid=9CDF24D7516D0AD5C16A9CDF24D7516D0AD5C16A

The ultimate in poop having a propensity to happen: "The Narrows Bridge had been designed by one of the most eminent and respected bridge engineers in the world. Federal and state and experts had approved the plans. The bridge was a state-of-the-art structure. It had cost over $6 million to build."

Gotta take care of first things first. Will it (whatever "it" happens to be) do what it is supposed to do? Then move to finer points.

Look, given that people often successfully use an old Stanley or Record foreplane (No. 6) as a shooting board plane, and neither firm ever made more than a relative handful of them that had a sole square to the sides, sure just about anything will work with enough tweaking. But, with a specialist plane we are being asked to spend extra money to avoid at least some of these tweaks. So sure, let's see, for $hits and giggles if nothing else, if we can quickly and efficiently square an end therefore at least partially justifying our purchase and the price differential paid over a regular bench plane. That's all I'm saying. I think it an odd omission not to have covered this in a review of such a plane. Folks seem to enjoy dwelling on edge longevity. I don't really get it in a larger context but clearly it is what it is. It all seems a little overdone at this point but that's just one guy's opinion. All of these products tend to become yesterday's news at some point, the steels that is. Sometimes sooner rather than later, sometimes not. It does generate fun banter on these forums I must say.
