the need for an outside fence for this plane and other similarly handled planes, which I hadn't thought of, and which makes me more likely to stick with the LAJ that serves me very well in this role (even though Derek thinks it too light for the task)
Hi Alex
Many thanks for the kind words.
Just to clarify, planes that are held near the mouth (such as the LA Jack) have a different ergonomic to planes that are pushed from the rear (such as the #51). The LA Jack is definitely not too light for use - in fact it has more momentum than a #9 and will out plane that specialist shooting plane if held in a specific manner. The #9 is more intuitive. Both do a super job. My comments are not about which is best but emphasising that function will follow form. Indeed, my review placed an emphasis on this - we all know that a shooting plane will shoot, and that Charles in now running out of ammunition.
Regards from Perth
Derek
